Hello! Welcome to our new digital nomad blog! We are Kyle and Whitney (and Chloe!) from Salt Lake City, Utah, and we are currently planning what we call “Life V3”.
What is Life V3?
It’s the next chapter of our story together where our dream of ditching the cubical to travel long-term becomes a reality!
Sounds amazing, right? Well there’s one minor trade-off…
Ditching the cubical doesn’t equal ditching the job.
Many people have the misconception that traveling is an activity reserved for the wealthy. This is certainly the image that the media likes to paint, but this couldn’t be further from the truth! If money is a concern, though (which, for most of us, it is), among one of the options is to transfer any skills you have to the online world and continue to bring in an income while traveling.
In this day and age, ANYONE is certainly capable of doing just that. And that’s precisely what we are going to do.
The plan is to keep our current full-time jobs, but work remotely.
All the while, we will be moving to a new place every few months to slowly explore what that area has to offer.
nomad slowmad life, here we come!
Imagine trying to achieve full cultural immersion in one or two weeks, which tends to be the time that a typical digital nomad stays in one place. Between working full-time and daily chores, you wouldn’t be left with much daylight to explore your surroundings, much less to experience the local culture on a deeper level. Because we are both super passionate about understanding cultures and new ways of living, Life V3 will consist of moving to a new place every few months rather than every few days/weeks, allowing us ample time to connect with and become one of the locals.
So…where to first?
I suppose now is a great time to make our announcement…
We’re starting Life V3 in New York City!!!
We officially embark on August 20, 2016, and we will be staying until early December!
Yes! We’ve still not been there together even after 8+ years, and we knew we wanted to kick off Life V3 with a big fat BANG! There’s going to be sooooo much to do and see there. The hustle and bustle of the city will be a drastic change compared to little old Salt Lake and we’re ECSTATIC OUT OF OUR MINDS about that!
I could go on, but I think “my boy” Frankie hits the nail right on the head…
Key lyric: If we can make it there, we’ll make it anywhere 🙂
